Going Places

Are you going away for the day / weekend / on holiday?   Would you like some company for the trip?  Advertise your plans on this page and see who else would like to join you?

Member's are also asked to share their experiences on trips done in and around KZN or even further.  This will also be a worthwhile feature for others wishing to take that weekend break from the bump and grind of the corporate world.

Exhibitor Opportunities for the 2010 Ballito Prawn & Jazz Festival – Our “Green” Event

We invite you to be a part of the inaugural annual Ballito Prawn & Jazz Festival from 02-04 July 2010.  This is the first ever environmentally friendly festival and will focus on fun family entertainment, targeting visitors, local residents and communities along the North Coast from Durban to Richards Bay and inland. The festival aim is to showcase the beautiful North Coast, particularly the attractiveness of Ballito as a holiday, tourist and development destination.

In conjunction with the Ilembe District Municipality (the greater KZN North Coast Municipality), the KwaDukuza Municipality, Rotary International, Round Table and the Lions Club, the festival purpose will be to raise much needed funds for earmarked community based projects.  A specific local project or charity will be identified each year, which the festival will support. Furthermore, a percentage of the festivals proceeds will be donated to the newly formed Community Chest to assist existing local projects in our community.

There will be a great selection of scrumptious and healthy gourmet prawn dishes available, wonderful entertaining jazz music, outdoor sports activities, an organic market, a craft market, and an interior design expo at this inaugural festival and a fun filled family weekend will be had by all. There will also be a dedicated 5000sqm kiddie’s expo, which will have a strong educational focus.

The mild winter months on the KZN North Coast provide an ideal platform for an event of this nature. Our vision for the Ballito Prawn & Jazz Festival is that it will eventually become a 10-day festival that will rival the Pick n Pay Kynsna Oyster Festival for pride of place as the premier South African winter festival.

The annual Mr Price Pro Surfing Championship, a world renowned international surfing contest, is run over the same period as the festival, drawing crowds to Ballito over the June and July winter holiday season. This, together with the soccer fever during the FIFA 2010 Soccer World Cup, will provide us with the perfect opportunity to launch the Ballito Prawn & Jazz Festival and give you, the sponsor, maximum exposure and publicity.

We are confident that exhibitors will enjoy high foot traffic and will be seen by thousands of visitors, we estimate 15-20 000 visitors at this event. The media will be covering this festival on TV, radio and print leading up to and including the weekend of the festival.

Kind Regards

Nikki & Leanne

An interesting article

A regular occurrence at the Mfuwe Lodge in the South Luangwa National Park in Zambia where the lodge was unwittingly built on the Elephant's traditional path through to some wild mango trees on the property. The herd of a dozen or so elephants walk through the lodge's reception area at least twice a day for about 4 weeks and then sporadically for about another 3 weeks to feed on the trees. No incidents reported to date!

Have a look at the pics below:
